Grocery Strike Update
The charges under investigation mirror those that prompted two civil suits by the UFCW last month.
+= Safeway Inc. is starting to get some bad press in the business pages. So far the California strike hasn't had an appreciable effect on stock prices. But if this kind of coverage keeps up, it will.
+= 50,000 grocery workers in Northern California have voted to raise their union dues by $5 to $10 per month in order to build up their strike fund. Negotiations haven't yet started on the next contract, but Union officials expect health insurance to be a major issue. Current contracts expire in July and September. link
